Ruth Cross

CROSS, Ruth Mary - Age 88, of Grand Blanc, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Ruth was born February 28, 1930 in Lenawee County, Michigan, the daughter of the late Fletcher and Gladys (Hoag) Hoag. She married Avery M. Cross on August 23, 1947 in Kalkaska, Michigan. Ruth enjoyed canning, crafts, snowmobiling, RVing, flowers, bird watching, making fudge, rock and stamp collecting, crocheting, scrap booking and much more. After her mother died when she was three years old, Ruth was raised by her aunt Lydia Pruden in Kalkaska. As a military wife she followed Avery to Cape May, NJ. After their children were married and gone they bought a motor home and traveled the country, spending their winters in Congress, AZ. She was a loving wife and mother to husband of 70 years, Avery Cross of Grand Blanc; children, William (Barb) Cross of Grand Blanc, Gladys (Leslie) Ballard of Kalkaska, Dennis Cross of Grand Blanc, Larry (Carol) Cross of Mancelona and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Edith (Ken) Stephens of CA, Joann (ED) Antaya of Kalkaska, Helen (Ron) Hedrich of Alma and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Cross; daughter-in-law, Susan (Shaw) Cross; sisters, Doris (Dean) Richie and Billie (Ron) Pickering. Tributes may be posted at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
