CRITTENDEN, Ruth G. (Brazeau) "Mom, Grandma and GG" - Of Flint Township, formerly of Swartz Creek, age 90, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Woodhaven Senior Community. A Funeral Mass in Celebration of Ruth's life will be held 10:30AM Friday, June 12, 2009 at St. Mary Queen of Angels, Swartz Creek, Reverend Father Steven Mattson officiating. The family will receive friends 9:30AM Friday until time of Mass at church. Entombment will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-9PM, and Thursday from 1-4 and 6-9PM, with a Vigil Service at 7PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Memorial services will be held by the American Legion Post #294 at 6:30PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Queen of Angels elevator fund or the American Legion Auxiliary Post #294. Mrs. Crittenden was born April 16, 1919 in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of the late August T. and Minnie (LeBlanc) Brazeau. She married Carl Crittenden on February 3, 1947 at St. Michael's Church in Flint, Michigan. Mrs. Crittenden was honored as Senior Queen at the Swartz Creek Hometown Days in 2006. She was a member of St. Mary's 50 & Over Group, Swartz Creek Senior Citizens, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #294 of Swartz Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Crittenden owned and operated Crittenden's Market on Industrial Avenue from 1946 though 1968. Surviving are: children, Sharon (H. Robert) Vance of Flint, Karen Szcodronski of Bellaire, William (Vicky) of Lexington, MA, Mary (John) Martin of Alvin, TX, Michele (Ed) McCarron of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Teresa (Matt) Sullivan of Grayson, GA, Tanya (Russ) Klont of Laingsburg, Erin (Scott) Farver of Gallup, NM, Joe Szcodronski of Nashville, TN, Carl, Drew and John Crittenden, all of Lexington, MA, Mac and Jake McCarron of Colorado Springs, CO, Alexandra Martin of Alvin, TX; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Emma Sullivan of Grayson, GA and Vance and Carter Klont of Laingsburg; brother-in-law, Dale (Jean) Crittenden of Fairhope, AL; sisters-in-law, Sister Catherine Crittenden, S.S.I.H.M. of Monroe, MI and Mae Brazeau of Escanaba; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Carl Crittenden; a daughter, Teresa Marie Crittenden; son-in-law, Tom Szcodronski; her parents; and all of her siblings, Elmer (Beatrice) Brazeau, Lillian (Tom) Beaumier, Eugene Brazeau, Berniece (Clifford) O'Donnell, Orvilla (Louis) Carr, Lucille (Fred) MacKinnon, Margaret (Stanley) Badenski and August Brazeau.
