MOFFETT, Russell F. - age 97, of Harrison Twp., formerly of Flint for 91 years, and Bradenton, FL, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 in Bradenton, FL. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Robert D. Wright officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Court Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Moffett was born March 7, 1911 in Flint, the son of Robert Glenn Moffett and Ruth (Winger) Moffett. He was a graduate of Flint Central High School and attended GMI and Flint Junior College. Mr. Moffett married Thelma Burwell on March 23, 1934. He retired from the City of Flint after 20 years of service. Mr. Moffett was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church, the Midwest Dachshund Club, Dachshund Club of America, the Genesee County Kennel Club and the Rotary Club. Surviving are: daughter, Marilyn L. Matecun of Harrison Twp. and Holmes Beach, FL; three grandchildren, E. Dennis (Tammy) Matecun, Jr. of Hudson, OH, Glenn R. (Teresa) Matecun of Wixom; Diana Welsh Lineback of Port Richey, FL; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Thelma; son, Robert; grandson, Russell M. Matecun, sister, Margaret MacLeod; brother, Robert.
