McCONNELL, Russell C. -- Age 83, of Durand, died Saturday, August 19, 2006 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor John Walworth officiating. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6-9 PM Monday, and 1-9 PM Tuesday. Mr. McConnell was born April 13, 1923 in Byron the son of Frederick and Eva (Teachout) McConnell. He had resided in the Shiawassee County his entire life. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army. Mr. McConnell was married to Minnie Millitt on October 12, 1946 in England. He had owned and operated McConnell Sand and Gravel. He was a member of the American Legion in Durand and a longtime member of the VFW in Corunna. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and traveling. Mr. McConnell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Minnie; two daughters Barbara and husband Randy Clark of Montrose, Carolyn and husband Stephen Kelsey of Swartz Creek; grandsons, Rick Jackson and wife Amy, Todd Pettyjohn and fiance Teresa Gordon, Ron Jackson and wife Stacie; 6 great-grandchildren, T.J., Nicholas, Taylor, Avianna, Kevin and Amara; two sisters, Bertha Stroub of Durand, Gladys and husband Ervin Davis of Owosso; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Arthur.
