Russell Bateman

BATEMAN, Russell McArthur - age 72, of Grand Blanc, died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Genesys Health Park. Visitation will be held 2-6 PM Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. No formal services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of Christ of Genesee County, 5284 Fenton Rd., Flint. Russell was born December 24, 1942 in Paragould, AR, the son of Ora and Hazel Bateman. He was an accomplished athlete in his youth in football and baseball. Russell married Phyllis Dulaney on July 26, 1963. Mr. Bateman retired from General Motors in 2008 after 44 years of service working at Fisher Body, Buick City and Powertrain. He also owned a power washing business. Mr. Bateman was a very hard worker always working at least two jobs to provide for his family. Russell was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a strong Christian man and his family and home were the most important in his life. Mr. Bateman was a member of the Morning Star Masonic Lodge. Surviving are: wife, Phyllis; three children, Lucricia (Lester) Dominy, Shana Bateman (Geno), Scott (Molly) Bateman; four grandchildren, Gary, Ashley, Chelsea, and Abbey; three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Brooklynn, and Owen; two sisters, Barbara and Emma of Arkansas; many nieces and nephews.
