Rufina Szabo

SZABO, Rufina Julia -- Age 87, of Gaines, died March 26, 2015. Private services will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Arrangements under the direction of Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Rufina was born October 22, 1927 in Chesaning the daughter of William Gustav and Veronica (Schneider) Klein. She married Frank C Szabo on May, 21, 1955 in Flint. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2013. She was a graduate of St. Michael's in New Lothrup in 1945. She had resided in Gaines since 1979. Rufina was the Evening Chief Operator for Michigan Bell Telephone, retiring after 16 years of service to start her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening. She enjoyed trips and activities with the Swartz Creek Senior Center. Surviving are her daughter, Susan (John) Hoyes of Linden; 2 grandchildren, Courtney and Jacob; sister, Eileen Kealy. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; and parents, and siblings. The family wishes to thank Courtyard Manor of Swartz Creek and Genesys / Reverence Hospice.
