Roy O. Schoendorff

Roy O. Schoendorff. - of Swartz Creek, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, due to recent health complications. He was 91.

Born on May 30, 1933, Roy was the second of six siblings of Emil and Irene Schoendorff. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1951. Roy was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1961. Thereafter he petitioned Rome for laicization in 1968.

He retired from employment with the State of Michigan in 1996. He enjoyed studying languages, was a collector of U.S. and foreign postage stamps, and enjoyed family life and gardening.

Roy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith (Meyer). He is also survived by his sons, Edward (Racheal), Matthew, George, and Joseph; his special granddaughter, Mikaylah; brothers, Walter (Lorraine) and Paul; sisters-in-law, Maryann and Joan;  many nieces, nephews and the entire Meyer Family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Irene Schoendorff; brothers, Edward and Arthur; his sister, Mary; sister-in-law, Carol, and nephews, John and Steve.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Rd, Swartz Creek, Father Louis Ekka Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and from 10AM until the time of Mass Wednesday at church.
