Roy Paul George, 78, passed away peacefully and entered his eternal heavenly home on February 18, 2023 after valiantly fighting numerous illnesses over the past several years.
Roy was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 1, 1944, the only beloved son of James and Clara George. After spending some years in Redford and Linden, Roy’s parents settled in Parshallville, Michigan where he met his future wife, Carol Denkhaus. He grew up on one side of the town’s only intersection and Carol grew up on the other. Roy graduated from Hartland High School in 1962. In his years after high school, Roy entered the Army National Guard and served his country during the Detroit Riots in 1967. Roy married his beloved Carol on August 10, 1968. He supported his family and made many lifelong friends working as a Master Electrician and was a proud member of the IBEW Local 252.
Roy was known for so many things: his love of his family, his strong work ethic, his love of a good time, his huge smile and his sense of humor. If you knew Roy, you knew he always had a joke to tell. Roy was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish with his friends and his son, Chris. Roy loved traveling with Carol and their friends and had the opportunity to visit Alaska, Hawaii, France, Italy, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
Roy dearly loved his family and is survived by his “bride” of 54 years, Carol Jane George, his two children, Kellie (Daniel) Maletta and Christopher (Lisa) George, and his two grandsons, Benjamin and Charles Maletta. Roy is also survived by his brothers- and sisters-in-law and his close friends whom he loved like family.
Roy’s family will receive friends and family in a celebration of his life at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd, Fenton, Michigan from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21. On Wednesday, February 22, there will be a viewing at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church at 6481 Faussett Rd, Howell, Michigan followed by the funeral and burial at 11 a.m..
The family would like to express their thanks to all of the wonderful doctors, nurses, and caregivers who cared for him with such love, respect, and compassion over this last year.
If desired, donations may be made in Roy’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org)
