Roy Lee BAKER

BAKER, Roy Lee - age 85, of Swartz Creek, passed away Friday, May 6, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Senior Pastor Chris Yager and Pastor Aaron Whitman officiating. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at the church. Interment at Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Cornerstone Baptist Church or Carriage Town Missions. Mr. Baker was born June 10, 1925 in Ariton, Alabama, the son of the late Forrest H. and Luna (Beasley) Baker. He married Genoa Tew on June 15, 1946 in Clio, Alabama and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2010. Mr. Baker had resided in Swartz Creek since 1968 and was a member Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was employed by General Motors as a carpenter until his retirement in 1982 after 30 years of service. Surviving are: two sons, Roger A. (Cathy) Baker of Nashville, TN, Rick H. (Gail) Baker of Saginaw; four grandchildren, Christopher (Cora) Baker, Justin (Jill) Baker, Eva (Daniel) Cotte, Justin (Amber) Gohs; eight great-grandchildren, Judson, Jonas and Stella Baker, Evely and Jett Baker, Cabela and Azra Cotte, and Jayden Gohs; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Clarence Baker; two sisters, Eunice Henderson, Nellie Hamm. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Tom Travis, Angie Buda and Elizabeth Baxter for their love, kindness and compassionate care during Roy's final days.
