LaVANWAY, Rosswell "Ross" William - Age 87, of Fenton, died Friday, January 23, 2015. Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 31, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Inurnment will take place in the summer at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11 AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to Alzheimer's Association or Fenton Rotary Club. Ross was born June 12, 1927 in Flint, the son of Vern and Rosa (McCormick) LaVanway. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1945 and earned his Bachelor degree from The University of Michigan in 1950. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946 and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Katherine Magulick on May 12, 1962 in Flint. Ross retired as a civil engineer from Michigan Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, woodworking and traveling with his family and friends. Ross is survived by his wife, Katherine; son, Brent (Debbie) LaVanway of Fenton and their children, Erin, Meagan and Carson; daughter, Kim (Eric) Sakadinsky of Durango, CO and their children, Olivia and Alexander; many nieces and nephews including Janice Boyce and Linda (Daniel) Overland; special friend, Carole Miller.
