SCRIMENTI, Rose M. (Dyke)- Age 94, of Fenton, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, February 28, 2005 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Hubbardston, MI. Fr. Charlon Mason celebrant. Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hubbardston. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, from 2-6 PM Sunday; and at the church from 9AM until time of service Monday. Rose was born March 23, 1910 in Hubbardston, MI and was one of nine children in the Herald family. After high school Rose attended college for her teaching degree and she taught in a one room school until her marriage. When her six children were grown, she once again returned to teaching in East Detroit, now known as Eastpointe. She will always be remembered for her love of children, especially the babies. She inherited the talent she had for sewing from her mother and each grandchild was presented with a handmade quilt when they married. Her Catholic faith sustained her through many trials including 'The Great Depression'. She was an active member of St. Basil the Great Church in Eastpointe and for many years made the little hats that were used for christening ceremonies. She was the wife of the late Clifton S. Dyke and the late Andrew Scrimenti; mother of Cmdr. Conrad S. (Shirley) Dyke, Gayeann (John) Stilwell, Nancy (Michael) Poulin, the late Marshall (Cathy) Dyke, Cheryl (Larry) Velliky, Dennis (Mary) Dyke. Rose had 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Donna Kelly, Betty Colorado, and Bernita Cunningham and many loving nieces and nephews.
