OKENKA, Rose M. Â Age 84, of Lennon, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Avalon Hospice. A memorial mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, March 31, 2006 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Amos Wischmeyer celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service at the church. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and her cremated remains will be buried immediately following the mass at St. Mary Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Avalon Hospice or St. Mary Catholic Church. Rose was born July 13, 1921 in Swartz Creek the daughter of Frank and Anna (Pufka) Trubiro. She married Anthony Okenka in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1985. Rose retired from AC Spark Plug as an inspector. She was a life member of St., Mary Queen of Angels. Rose enjoyed being with her family, helping others, and bowling and going to the casinos, she took great pride in her home and loved working around the house. Surviving are: three sisters, Mildred Okenka of Lennon, Ann Scerceny, Henrietta Horvath, both of Flushing; brother, Joseph Trubiro and wife, Irene of Swartz Creek; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters, Marion Kovarcik and Irene Ocenasek; brother, Edward Trubiro. The family extends a thank you to the staff of Avalon Hospice.
