He was a graduate of E.O. Smith High school and grew up in Ashford, CT. His ancestry was French, Hungarian and Yankee. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Ashford Volunteer Fire Dept. and an avid muscle car and Nascar enthusiast. Ron grew up immersed in the dog show world as his family- owned kennel, (Nashau-Auke), bred many BIS, group winning, and champion Newfoundlands Ron met his wife Ann Marie (Torres) through a mutual love of the Newfoundland breed and they were married on April 1, 1986 . Through the years he lived in San Diego, Nipomo, and Mira Loma, CA working for the Pennzoil Corp. and Mobil Corp. as a driver and salesman in the motor oil and fuel industry. Ron and Ann relocated to Fenton, MI in 1996 where he worked for Atlas Oil and Kenan Advantage Tank Lines Corp. in the same industry. Storytyme Newfoundlands and Mean Lady Dog Training was a creative blend of Ron and Ann's talents combining over 65 years of dog knowledge. 'Ben', his first home-bred Champion played the part of 'Sandy' in the musical 'Annie' last year for the Fenton Village Players. Ron and his dog were a familiar sight at Linden Summer Happenings and around town. Ron was a hardworking, truly devoted husband to Ann and father to his three children; Cheryl, age 18, Brandon, age 14 and Dustin, age 13. He supported and encouraged them to find their passion and pursue their dreams. He recently had become involved in the Navy Sea Cadet program encouraging Brandon to pursue his love of diving and exploration. An avid hard- rock enthusiast, he and Dustin spent countless hours listening to music and learning everything he could about different guitars, their sounds and effects just so he could share in Dustin's love of guitars. His love of animals and his devotion to his daughter was fueled by many common interests. He was her #1 fan and no matter the hour, he always had time for her and her love of horses, forensics and behavior. His biggest thrill was watching his children become successful in their interests. He was an active member in the Great Lakes Newfoundland Club, Newfoundland Club of New England and Newfoundland Club of America. Ron was a man who always took the time to help someone in need. He was a wonderful cook, loved to entertain and always gave of himself 150 percent no matter what the job was or what needed to be done.
