MAYGAR, Ronald Dale - age 73 of Fenton, passed away October 26, 2024. Born July 25, 1951 to John and Marion (Rumph) of Burton. He was an all-state athlete and 1969 graduate of Bentley High School and earned a master’s degree from Western Michigan university.
He was the younger brother to twins Robert (Kay) Maygar and Hugh Maygar. Ron leaves behind his wife of 44 years Janice (Slocum), daughter Shelby (Nathan Emmitt) Maygar, son Matthew (Erin) Maygar, beloved granddaughter Sidney Emmitt, sisters-in-law, Lisa (Paul) Arden, and Kathy (David) Anthony.
Ron loved to travel, starting with a trip in college to Afghanistan, Greece, and Turkey. Later he enjoyed taking his family on ski trips to Breckenridge, and sitting on the beaches of Cancun and St. John. He enjoyed boating, skiing, and snowmobiling at his cabin in Gaylord. As a member of the East Branch Sportsman Club in Newberry, he loved fishing, hunting, and spending time at Lake Superior. But his best memories were spent at his long time home on Silver Lake in Fenton, taking his kids tubing or puttering around on his pontoon. Nothing made him happier than sitting on the boat, listening to music, and singing at the top of his lungs.
Ron was a Michigan Football fanatic. He loved going to the games and tailgating at the golf course. He had a wonderful group of friends he played rec basketball with and loved being on countless golf leagues.
Thirty years of his life were spent in the Clio School district as an educator, administrator, and coach. He loved working with the students and staff. He helped found the Pride Club and enjoyed celebrating their accomplishments. Ron was honored to attend every graduation and beyond proud of the students in the Clio district.
