Ronald Dean Hutchins, a local Flint attorney for over 60 years, died January 11, 2016. He was born in Flint, January 12, 1929, the son of Fred C. and Leata (Harder) Hutchins. Ronald lived his entire life in Flint. He attended local public schools, graduating at the head of his high school class. He attended the University of Michigan, receiving A.B. and J.D. degrees. He was admitted to practice law in Michigan and in the U.S. Supreme Court. Ronald was a life long member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . His grandparents were founding members of the Church in Flint. As a conscientious objector to war, he served two years doing service of national importance at Northfield Hospital. Ronald never married. He maintained a household on Dye Road for many years. He is survived by a brother and sister, Richard Gilbert Hutchins of State College, PA and Helen Leone (Hutchins) Damouth, of Golden, CO, and nieces and nephews: children of Herbert, Sarah Joyce (Hutchins) Hohman, Robert Fred Hutchins, Richard Charles Hutchins; son of Merrill, Todd Fred Hutchins; daughters of Richard, Linda Leeanne (Hutchins) Hutchins-Knowles, and Sharon Suzanne Hutchins (Nugen); daughter of Helen, Leata Ann (Damouth) Mullen; and sons of Joy, Ronald Edward Merritt and Andrew Roy Merritt. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Herbert William Hutchins, and Merrill Fred Hutchins, and a sister, Joy Ellen (Hutchins) Merritt, and by a nephew, son of Helen, Daniel Evan Damouth. Family was important to Ronald. In his declining years, Ronald devoted much of his time to a study of the Book of Revelation and the Book of Mormon. Burial will be in Davison Cemetery.
