Ronald Gillies

GILLIES, Ronald D. - age 90, of Grand Blanc, died November 8, 2020. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, November 13, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48507. Visitation will be held from 3 PM - 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation (https://www.kidney.org/). Ronald was born July 19, 1930 in Flint, the son of William Wesley and Emma Bella (Barrett) Gillies. He was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School and University of Michigan. Ronald was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He spent over 70 years of his life in Barbershop music, beginning with the Bean Town Four. He was a member of the Flint Arrowhead Barber Shop Chorus and a Barber Shop Chorus in Macomb County. Ronald married Marion Taylor on November 18, 2000. He had worked from Buick Motors and transferred to EDS where he retired in Data Processing. Surviving are: wife, Marion Taylor Gillies; three sons, Michael (Sharon) Gillies, Wesley (Lorelie) Gillies, and Randall Gillies; two step-sons, Michael (Myra) Taylor and Jeffrey (Lori) Taylor; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Norma Jean (Raub) Gillies and daughter, Ronda Gonzales. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
