Ronald CONN

CONN, Ronald - age 74, of Gladwin formerly of Fenton, passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan on June 14, 2011. He was surrounded by his loving family. He died suddenly due to complications from a ruptured appendix. Ron was born in Flint on August 16, 1936, raised on Holbrooke Avenue and graduated from Flint Northern High School. He attended Flint Junior College (Mott Community College) and went on to earn a BS degree in pharmacy from Ferris Institute (Ferris State University) in 1957 where he met his wife, Shirley Clark, a fellow pharmacist. Ron and Shirley moved to Fenton in 1960 where they raised their family. He worked for Hovey's Drug Store before becoming a co-owner of Farner's Drug Store in Linden. Ronald also held shares in family owned and operated pharmacies in Durand and Ortonville. He had interests and great passions for thoroughbred horse racing and was an owner. He was the proud father of three children, Ronald of Ann Arbor, Kathleen and Patricia of Linden. He had four amazing grandchildren, Kimberley, Ronald III and Samantha from his son Ronald and Katelyn from Kathleen. He is also survived by sister-in-law Marie Conn of Ann Arbor and nephews Robert III and wife Cindy of Ann Arbor and their children, Robert IV and wife Lauren, Ryan and wife Natalie and their 2 children, Royce and Jillian and son Ross wife Sarah. Richard and wife Jennifer and their children Melanie, Brian and Molly Conn. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Robert Conn, mother Lela Emma (Bottoms) Conn and brother, Robert Conn, Jr. Ron was a committed and life long Detroit Tigers fan. He lived his life his way, made his own choices and was a man with many friends. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, June 17, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton with visitation on Thursday from 4-9 PM.
