RUSZKOWSKI, Roman Chester "Ray" - Age 82, of Swartz Creek formerly of Flint, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Great Lakes Baptist Temple, 2112 E. Maple Road, Flint, with Pastor Travis Simpson and Pastor David Chittenden officiating. Burial immediately following at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint Tuesday from 1-5 and 7-9 PM and at church Wednesday from 11:30 AM until time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to Great Lake Baptist Temple Sunday School Department. Ray was born June 22, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the son of Julius and Mary (Bieszczak) Ruszkowski. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He married Leona A. Rice August 27, 1952 in Flint. Ray retired from GM Truck and Bus after 31 years of service; he also had worked as an Auctioneer. He was a member of Great Lakes Baptist Temple, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and the Fisherman Club. Surviving are: wife, Leona; 4 children, Gloria Gail and husband Gary Preger of Las Vegas, NV, Patricia and husband Jim Van Holder of Coleman, Steven and wife Cyndy Ruszkowski of Grand Blanc and Robin and husband Bill Andrews of Swartz Creek; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mildred Apple of Alma and Wanda Fowler of Ithaca; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter-in-law, Staci Yax; great granddaughter, Aerial Yax; 6 brothers and sisters.
