Roland Pitts

PITTS, Roland Evans - age 85, of Mt. Morris, died January 8, 2022. A funeral service will be held 12 PM Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc, MI 48507 with Mr. Toby Hubbard officiating. Visitation will be held 10 AM - 12 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Church Grand Blanc (former Great Lakes Baptist Temple), 2112 E Maple Ave, Flint, MI 48507. Roland was born July 6, 1936 in Lake Wales, FL, the son of William Judson and Lennie Jane (Windsor) Pitts. He was a 1954 graduate of Lake Worth High School in Florida and graduated from New England Institute of Anatomy. Roland moved to Fenton in 1976 and became business partners with Dodds-Dumanois Funeral Home to form Dodds-Dumanois-Pitts Funeral Home in Fenton. Roland was a funeral director in Florida and Michigan working at Hill Funeral Home and retiring from Sharp Funeral Homes in 2002 after 49 years in Funeral Service.  Roland worked with Verneta Willie and she invited them to special activities like missionary dinners at Great Lakes Baptist Temple where Roland and Bonnie began to attend church. Roland loved traveling and cruises. He was an outdoorsy guy, chopping wood, camping, doing yard work and tinkering in the garage. Roland was a member of Pearl of the West 146 F & AM Masonic Lodge in New Port Richey, FL, York Rite Bodies of Clearwater, FL, and Egypt Temple Shrine of Tampa, FL. Surviving are: wife, Bonnie Lee Pitts; children, Cathy (Anthony) Lovett of Burton, Gary Pitts of Largo, FL, Christopher (Cyndi) Pitts of Holiday, FL, Lloyd Pitts of New Port Richey, FL; stepchildren, Billy Mendenall of Roseville, MI, Erin Janita (Howard) Hale of Canal Winchester, OH. He adored his many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they always made him smile. He was preceded in death by: mother, Lennie in 1976, father, William in 1987; step-mother, Clora in 1996; brother James in 2001; and brother-in-law, Wesley Williams in 2005.
