Roland John HAIST

June 15, 1931 — March 16, 2012

HAIST, Roland John, age 80, of Swartz Creek, died Friday March 16, 2012 at Avalon Hospice. According to Roland's wishes, anatomical donation has taken place at UofM medical school. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 24, 2012 at United in Christ Luthern Church, G-6330 Corunna Rd. Flint. Pastor David Daniel officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to the United in Christ Luthern Church or to Avalon Hospice. Mr. Haist was born June 15, 1931 in Flint the son of the late Clare A. and Bertha M. (Towne) Haist. He married Norma Mae Shilts in Flint on October 9, 1954. Roland was an avid bowler and loved to golf. He served his county in the Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Haist retired from G.M. V-8 engine plant with 32 years of service. Surviving are; wife, Norma Haist of Swartz Creek; daughter Karen (David) Simon of Swartz Creek; son, Thomas (Lynn) Haist of TX; grandson, Blaine Simon of Swartz Creek, Step-grandchildren, Jodie (Mike) Fath and family of Midland; David Jr. (Beth) Simon of Flint; niece Sally (Mel) Lockwood of SC and nephew Bob (Cathy) Haist of GA. He is also preceded in death by his brother Lloyd Haist. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituary page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
