Roger Fredrick GILLIE

GILLIE, Roger Fredrick, age 74, of Grand Blanc, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. The family will receive friends to pay their respects 12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Friday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Private funeral services will be held at a later time. In Lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, Avalon Hospice or a charity of one's choice. Roger was born November 5, 1935 in Hallock, MN the son of the late Fredrick William and Ethel (Larson) Gillie. He married Beverly Cole in Flint in 1962. He was a graduate of General Motors Institute and previously employed as a Quality Control Engineer at AC Spark Plug and Delphi until retirement. Roger was a huge hockey enthusiast who launched the introduction of Hockey to G.M.I. and A.C. at Ballenger Park, as well as the 30, 40 and over hockey leagues in the Flint area. Roger was an avid game player, any game, any time, with anyone, but primarily Bridge, which brought both Bev and Roger many hours of enjoyment and long lasting, precious friendships. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He will be remembered forever. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Beverly; 3 sons, Peter Gillie, Paul Gillie (Sindey) all of Flint, David Gillie (Michelle) of Allegan; grandchildren, Mark Bryngelson, Joshua Allison (Natalie), Jacquelynn Gillie, Kristy Harris (Cason), Ashley Coon (Aaron), Brandon Gillie, Kaitlyn Gillie; great-grandchildren, Alex and Aidan Bryngelson; siblings, Robert Gillie (Nancy), Joann Krumviede (Dale), Janet Eickhoff, Bruce Gillie, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Julie Bryngelson. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the entire Avalon Family, especially Ellen, Tim, Holly and Marge.
