Rodney Scott

SCOTT, Rodney "Rod" E. - age 73, of Flint Township, died May 30, 2020. Cremation has taken place and per his wishes no services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Rod was born July 9, 1946 in Flint.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia (Maples) Scott. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan Ann Arbor where he also lettered in baseball.  After earning his Bachelor Degree, he remained a devoted U of M Football fan and had only missed one home game since 1964. He continued to play baseball on various local city leagues. Rod retired as an Enforcement Officer with the Genesee County Friend of the Court. He was also an avid golfer and loved fishing. Rod is survived by his daughter, Aimee (Carlos) Cruz of Florida; two grandchildren, Carlitos and Antonio Cruz; sister, Nancy (Jim) Kirk of Flint; nephew, Michael (Carley) Kirk; niece, Michelle Kirk; dogs Nellie, Ellie and Rowdy; and a host of extended family and friends. Rod will always be remembered by friends and family for his kind heartedness.  In the words of a life long friend, "Rod was everyone's best friend".  Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473.
