Rodney Rukkila

RUKKILA, Rodney L. - Age 68, of Fenton, he passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on February 25, 2019. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Friday. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly at a later date. Contributions would be appreciated to the ALS Association of Michigan. Rodney was born June 27, 1950 in Marquette, the son of Leonard A. and Marcy E (Wester) Rukkila. He married Dawna L. Sloan in Farmington Hills on May 20, 1978. Rodney was a graduate of Wakefield High. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Rodney was employed by GM for 37 years, retiring in 2006. He was an avid sports fan, loved watching his children play sports, and enjoyed bass fishing. Surviving are: his beloved wife of 40 years, Dawna; children, Rena (Donn) Winkler, Jennifer (Nathan) Janes, Alydia (David) Bishop, Rodney L. (Lauren Fields) Rukkila; he was a proud Papa to grandchildren, Dakota, Miranda, Archer, Trenton, Gavyn, Owen, Rhyin, Evelyne, Sophia, and Sawyer; his father, Leonard A. Rukkila; siblings, Tina (Dan) Hendrickson, Bruce (Pat) Rukkila, Shelley (Paul) Koski, Dave (Patti) Rukkila; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
