AMON, Rodney Donald - age 72, of Swartz Creek, died September 14, 2022. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Rd, Swartz Creek, MI 48473 with Bishop Earl Boyea celebrant. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Live blue grass music will be performed by Dan Hall at 6:30 PM and scripture service will be held 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church. Rod was born December 26, 1949 in Flint, the son of Donald William and Colleen (Gibbs) Amon. He was 1968 graduate of Swartz Creek High School, received a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts from Sienna Heights University. Rod married Marcia Ann St. Pierre on June 24, 1989 in Flint. He retired from Peerless Furniture in 2011. Rod was ordained a Permanent Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Lansing in 2000, serving mostly at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Deacon Rod was well known for his sense of humor, enjoying a good laugh and being an all around great guy. When he was younger he enjoyed building and working on cars. He also enjoyed traveling the United States and bluegrass music. Deacon Rod was a good and faithful servant of God and the Church. Surviving are: wife, Marcia Amon; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Jake Amon and sister, Sandra Curtis.
