Robert E. Wolfe

WOLFE,  Robert E. (Bob), age 79 of Grand Blanc, died peacefully,Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the Genesys Convalescent Center.  Bob was born in Lapeer on December 26, 1926 a son of William and Florence (Clark) Wolfe and he has been a Flint area resident all his life.  He was a 1945 graduate of Flint Northern High School and after graduating he entered the U.S. Army serving in Italy.  He was employed in the Department of Public Works for the city of Flint for 26 years until retiring in 1977.  He later worked several years for the  township of Genesee. Bob was an accomplished artist  and ran Wolfes Screen Arts Studio, a design business from home.  He designed the logo for the Greater Flint Sports Hall of Fame and won an award for doing so. Bob enjoyed all sports, but especially golf. He taught golf to his longtime companion, Betty Tahash and she taught him dancing, which he thoroughly enjoyed in the later years of his life. He also had a great love for music, especially the Blues. Surviving are his six children;  David Wolfe, of McKinney, Texas, Katherine Wolfe of Flint, Andrew Wolfe and wife Karen of Grand Blanc, Marilyn Stoneburner and husband John of Grand Haven, Thomas Wolfe and wife Jody of Reston, Virginia and Edward Wolfe of Pinckney, Michigan.  Also surviving are his 10 grandchildren, two sisters; Helen Price and husband Frank of Davison, Betty Bradley of Boyne City; a brother William Wolfe and wife Shirley of Flushing; several nieces, nephews and his best friend and long time companion, Betty Tahash of Grand Blanc.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gertrude and infant brother, Edwin.   Cremation has taken place, however his family will receive friends at a memorial visitation on Sunday, March 12, 2006 from 1 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd. ( just South of Hill Rd.)  and on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at which time a service to celebrate his life will take place.
