Williams, Robert Harry "Monk"Bob passed away peacefully at home in Flint, Mich. on Saturday, May 22. Born on May 16, 1934 Bob grew up in Nashville Mich. and Saginaw, Mich. He attended Saginaw Arthur Hill High School (class of 1952) where he lettered in several varsity sports for the Lumberjacks including basketball and football. After graduation Bob joined the United States Air Force and served his country for four years. After returning to Saginaw, Bob attended the University of Michigan (class of 1961). For over 30 years Bob taught in the Flint (Mich.) Community Schools where he positively affected the lives of thousands of students and made many life-long friends. Twenty of those years were spent teaching at Lowell Junior High School. He also taught at Whittier Middle School and Northwestern High School. Bob believed in the mission of public education and worked to engage, encourage, and challenge his students. Bob was crazy about University of Michigan football, passionate about music, and a voracious reader. He loved fishing Up North, getaway trips to Saugatuck, Saturday night dinner and a movie with his wife, lunch with his sons, spoiling his grandchildren, laughing with friends, and lounging with his cats Bob and George. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Bessie, and brothers Cliff, Ryon, and Fredrick. Bob is survived by his wife Barbara Reid Williams, sons Christopher (Mary), Meredith, N.H., Eric (Jennifer), Flint, Mich., and Harry, Flint, Mich. and grandchildren Alexandria and Jackson, Meredith, N.H. and Jessica, Flint, Mich. Donations can be made in Bob's name to the Humane Society of Genesee County or Tenth Life, Inc. in Flint. To honor Bob's wishes a funeral was not held and his remains have been donated to the University of Michigan Anatomical Research Department.
