Robert Walter

WALTER, Robert Sheldon - age 97, of Flint Twp., passed away August 8, 2020. Funeral service will be held 1 PM Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Robert was born January 18, 1923 in Flint, the son of Sheldon and Martha (Shoultz) Walter. He was a graduate of Flint Central High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Robert married Kathryn Jarvis on November 16, 1946 and she preceded him in death on January 20, 2019. He retired from General Motors Parts Division. Robert inducted into the Flint Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1975 and had served as the president, secretary and treasurer of the Men's Bowling Association. Surviving are: children, Robert S. (Donna) Walter II, Mary Kathryn (Blake) Grove, Kenneth Walter, and Keith D. Walter; grandchildren, Amy (Ron) Haynes, Adam Grove, Reba Walter, Tracy (Chad) Leuneberg, Shelli Walter, and Nicole Grove; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
