Robert G. SURFACE

SURFACE, Robert G. - age 72, of Swartz Creek, went home to be with the Lord Monday, August 2, 2010 at Brian's House Hospice. Services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Pastor Glenn Tatterson officiating. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3:00pm till 8:00pm at the funeral home with a service at 7:00pm by Linden Eastern Star #175. Mr. Surface was born August 25, 1936 in Burton, the son of William E. and Annabelle (Graydon) Surface. Robert attended Bendle High School, graduating in 1954. He married Helen Widner on June 1, 1957 in Flint. Mr. Surface retired from General Motors as a Millwright in 2000. He was a charter member f the Flint Baptist Temple, a member of Masonic Lodge #458 F. & A.M., an honorary member of Linden Masonic Lodge #132, OES #175, U.A.W. Local 659, life member of the NRA and a former member of the Flint Patch and Ball Club. Mr. Surface was active in Boy Scouts of America. Robert ws dearly loved and respected by all that knew him. Surviving are: wife, Helen of Swartz Creek; son, Tab Surface and wife, Paula of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Cody, Cade and Camry Surface, Asa and Helen Brown; sisters, Shirley and husband, Charles Johnson of TN, Sherry and husband, Robert Van Kuren of Flint; sister-in-law, Janet Surface of Flushing and Ruth Smith of Alabama.
