Robert Mulanix

MULANIX, Robert Dale - Age 86, of Flint, passed away April 23, 2017. Committal services will be held 2PM Thursday April 27, 2017 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Fenton Adopt-A-Pet or Toys For Tots. Born July 3, 1930. Robert (Bob) graduated from Flint Central High School where he met and later married his wife of 66 years, Doris (Lockhart) Mulanix. Robert was proud to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps., from 1948 to 1952. He worked in the commercial construction business for over 40 years, starting as an apprentice carpenter and retiring as a construction superintendent, supervising several large projects in the Flint area and Southeast Michigan. Robert embraced life and was passionate about his family, traveling, horses, skiing, golf, reading, and gardening (especially his tomatoes and roses). He loved playing any kind of cards but cribbage was definitely his favorite. He would teach anyone that wanted to learn, just so he could play. He also truly enjoyed all the dear friends and activities at the Burton Senior Center. Robert is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters, Diane (Ron) Saarela, Elaine Eldred, Teresa (Dave) Heasty; grandchildren, Jennifer (Gary) Williams, Amy Eldred, Nicholas (Celeste) Saarela, Kathryn Heasty, Bryan Heasty; great-grandchildren, Clinton, Conner, Collen,and Lainey; also several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Bryan and Helen (Butler) Mulanix; his brother, Arthur Mulanix; and his grandson, Aaron Saarela.Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of sharpfuneralhomes.com.
