MESACK, Robert J. -- Age 85, of Linden, died September 5, 2012 at Genesys Health Park. Services will be held 11:30 AM Friday, September 7, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden, Pastor Ken McMaster officiating. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation 11 AM - 8 PM Thursday, 10:30 AM until the time of the funeral Friday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Linden VFW. Robert was born May 24, 1927 in Saginaw. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Sally Barss on November 4, 1950 in Linden; she preceded him in death December 27, 2005. He was co-owner of Davanay Plumbing and Heating. Mr. Mesack had served on the Linden School Board for many years. He was a member and past president of Spring Meadows Country Club. He was a member and past post commander of the Linden VFW Price, Crane, Robinson Post 4642. He was a member of the Linden Presbyterian Church. Surviving are: five children, Micki and husband Vernon White of Tennessee, Robin and husband Michael DuBois of Byron, Cheryl Most of Ohio, Jill and husband David Behrens of Linden, Scott and wife Kristina Mesack of Indiana; two sisters, Joyce Ciesielski of Linden, Kay and husband John Huggins of Flushing; brother Bill and wife Linda Sobey of Flint; grandchildren, Aimee Bush, Stacey Riley, Kristie McDowell, Shannon Bennett, Eric White, Chelsea Behrens, Sara Johnson, Wendy Johnson, Kenny Mesack; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Mesack and Eleanor (Cubbitt) Mesack Sobey; wife Sally; and brother Jerry. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
