Robert James McDONALD

McDONALD, Robert James, age 83, of Fenton, passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 at Young at Heart, Holly. Services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Young at Heart, Holly. Robert was born September 28, 1928 in Holly, the son of James Robert and Dorothy McDonald. Robert was owner and operator of Fern-McDonald Auto Sales and McDonalds Travel-Rama both in Fenton. After retirement he purchased the Surf Motel in Mackinaw City, enjoying life. Later in retirement, Robert spent winters in Florida, and enjoyed his home in Indian River, Michigan in the warm months. Robert enjoyed deer hunting in Michigan, deep-sea fishing in Florida and boating in Indian River. Surviving are his 4 children, Denise Rising (Dennis) of Brighton and Marco Island, David McDonald (Michelle) of Marco Island, Rob McDonald (Carol) of Naples, FL and Lynn Bednar (Jeff) of Naples, FL; 5 grandchildren, Troy Rising(Kirsten), Courtney Simon (Jason), Melissa Carr (Brian), Tyler Bednar, Emily Bednar; 10 great-grandchildren, Hailee, Jacob, Gabe and Alec Simon; Melanie Carr, Austin, Darrien and Mitchell Carr; Lily and Ella Rising; close friend, Barbara Jones.
