Robert Harris

HARRIS, Robert George - age 97, of Fenton, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021.  Services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton.  Pastor Terry Prisk officiating.  Mr. Harris' service will be live streamed and may be viewed at the bottom of this page. Interment to follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.  Visitation will be held 11 AM until the time of service.  Contributions may be made to the Fenton Rotary or Fenton Alumni Association.

Bob was born September 6, 1923 in East Chicago, IN, the son of William and Myrtle (Dunck) Harris.  He was a graduate of Fenton High School.  Bob was married to Marie Durant on June 24, 1944 in Highland Park; she preceded him in death on May 3, 2013.  He proudly served as a Marine in the Korean War and was a Marine Officer, retiring in 1965.  Bob was a graduate of Michigan State University, US Naval Post Graduate School, and later returned to MSU where he earned his doctorate degree.  He served as President for Johnson Community College in Overland Park, KS, McHenry Community College in Crystal Lake, IL, and Middlesex Community College in Edison, NJ. He later returned to Fenton, where he owned and operated Harris Financial and authored six to seven books on the history of Fenton.

Surviving are: children, Robert J. (Lorraine) Harris of South Carolina, Patricia (Dan) Badaluco of California; grandchildren, Robert (Jeanie) Harris of Fenton, J. Matthew Harris of South Carolina, Daniel (Helene) Badaluco of California, David Badaluco of California, Susan (Ron) Dominquez of California; nine great-grandchildren; nephews, David Durant and Todd Durant of Fenton; nieces, Lynda O'Brien of Bend, OR, Diane Bencic of Garden City, MI; and caretaker, Kellie Adamson.
