GILBERT, Robert James -- Age 38, of Swartz Creek, died February 16, 2016. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, February 19 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek, Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 1-4 PM and 6-9 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, where a Scripture service will be held at 7 PM Thursday. Visitation will also be from 10 AM until time of service at church on Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to Sons of the American Legion Post 294 or St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Robert was born May 4, 1977 in Flint the son of John and Edna L. (Owens) Gilbert. He resided in Swartz Creek his entire life. He attended Swartz Creek High School. Robert was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 294. He was employed by JLK Mechanical in Swartz Creek, as a Sheet metal fabricator. He loved playing his guitar. He is survived by his parents, John and Edna Gilbert of Swartz Creek; sister, Sharron (Bruce) Richardson of Mayville; brother, John Gilbert Jr. of Owosso; nephews, Charles, Ryan, Nicholas Coburn; niece, Celia Gilbert; special friend Naomi Teunis and her children, Chloe, Dylan, Emily of Owosso; uncles, Bernie (Martha) Owens of Durand, Frank (Phyllis) Gilbert of Florida, Jerry (Jeanette) Gilbert of Montrose, David (Sue) Gilbert of Owosso, aunts, Julia (David) Asselin of Swartz Creek, Frances (Wayne) Bamberger of Rose City; several cousins and special friends; great aunts, Irene Garrett of Florida, Dorothy Henkie of Durand; special cat, Hank.
