GERTZEN, Robert A. -- Age 92, of Flint, formerly of Knox, Indiana, died July 29, 2010 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 1 PM Thursday, August 5 at the Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Interment 2:30 PM Thursday at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. Visitation 2-8 PM Wednesday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Veterans Office in Rochester, IN. Mr. Gertzen was born January 17, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW in Knox, IN. He retired from Inland Steel. Mr. Gertzen married Barbara (Rose) Strus on December 8, 2006 in Knox, IN. Surviving are: wife Barbara; son, Robert (Bonnie) Gertzen of Knox, IN; step-children, Penny (Ikramullah) Khan of Fenton, Sgt. First Class James Matthew Jensen currently serving in Iraq (Theresa) of Hinesville, Georgia, Charles Edward Jensen of Ora, IN, Jeremy (Brandy) Schmidt of Fort Riley, Kansas; 2 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren.
