Robert Smith

SMITH, Robert Elwood - age 89, of Fenton, died January 22, 2021. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Adopt-A-Pet of Fenton (www.adoptapetfenton.com). Mr. Smith was born April 9, 1931 in Detroit, the son of Walter Elwood and Florence (Peebles) Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. Robert married Minniebelle Elizabeth Henderson on Jul 11, 1953 and she preceded him in death on November 24, 2004. He retired from GM Fisher Body in Grand Blanc as a Die Maker. Robert was devoted to his wife, Minnie, his three daughters and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling and traveling with his wife. Surviving are: three daughters, Karen Thomas and husband, Jack Nestle of Gladwin, Lisa and husband, Kelly Cronk of Fenton, Rebecca Strahorn of Fenton; grandchildren, Ron (Lisa) Matthews, Mike Matthews (Rob Adams), Stacey (Pat) Sheahan, Matthew (Jamie) Cronk, Erin Cronk, Robert (Audriana) Cronk, Amanda Strahorn (William Hill); great-grandchildren, Alisa (Robert) Pritchard, Patrick Sheahan, Sydney Sheahan, Madison Cronk (AJ) and Bella Cronk; great-great-grandchildren, Mavis and Jaylynn Cronk; brothers, Jack Smith and Thomas Smith; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Minnie; six siblings, Leo, Lelia, Jenevee, Charles, Gordon, and Delora. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W.
