Robert Homer Elder

ELDER, Robert Homer - Age 79, of Byron, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023.  Per Robert's request cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date. A private graveside service will be held at Byron Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Tunnels to Towers.  

Robert was born October 17, 1943 in Flint the son of Homer and Maxine (Botkins) Elder.  He was a graduate of Kearsley High School.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy.  He married Kathleen Lee Burgess March 23. 1978 in Flint.  Robert retired in 1996 from GM Buick Motor Company after 30 years of service.  He was a member of the Linden V.F.W. Post #4642 and U.A.W. Local 599.  

Surviving are: his wife, Kathleen; children, Robert Scott (Elly) Elder of Durand, Lee Peterson of Iron Mountain and Loren Elder of Byron; granddaughters, Danielle (David) Madrigal and Morgan (fiancee', Ben) Elder.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Maxine Elder.  Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
