COMPEAU, Robert James - Age 72, of Fenton, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at University Hospitals, Ann Arbor. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, March 19, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Fenton, with Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Thursday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and at church Friday from 9:30 AM until time of service. A vigil service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. A V.F.W. Men's Auxiliary Service will be held 7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Tammy Pappas Education Fund, 111 Water St, P.O. Box 495, Alpena, MI 49707. Robert was born March 12, 1938 in Detroit, the son of David J. and Dorisella M. (Resky) Compeau. He was a graduated from St. Michael's Catholic High School, Flint. He married Helen Jeanette Thornton February 17, 1962. He served in the U.S. Army. Robert retired March 11, 2002 from Liquid Drive Corporation in Holly, he also was employed by the City of Fenton from 1963 to 1967 as a Police officer. He was a member of Dad's of Foriegn Service and Fenton V.F.W. Men's Auxiliary Post #3243. He was a foster father for 32 years to 128 babies. He also was an avid hunter an fisherman. Surviving are: wife, Helen Jeanette; son, Anthony Compeau of Fenton; daughter, Annette Compeau of Fenton; 3 grandchildren, Mark Compeau, Kalie Compeau and Quenin Ortega all of Fenton; great grandson, Deton Thommen; stepfather, Andrew Prieur of Hubbard Lake; brother, Rick and wife Joyce Prieur of Hubbard Lake; sister, Cheryl and husband Ronnie Pratt of Montrose; son-in-law, Paul Pappas of Linden; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
