Robert Lee "Bob" Christensen, age 81, of Swartz Creek, returned to his Heavenly home to live with his Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 22, 2024 in Swartz Creek, Michigan, where he had resided for the past 19 years. He valiantly battled various health issues, including myeloma, aneurysms and dementia, and is now triumphant over all of them.
Visitation will be held at 10:30am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:30pm on Friday June 28, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Home - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. Bob was born on November 21, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, and was lovingly adopted shortly thereafter. He grew up in Flint and attended Grand Blanc High School, where he played as an outfielder on the baseball team.
In 1960, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was recognized for his rifle skills. After his military service, Bob returned to Michigan and worked at various jobs before beginning a 29 - year career with the U.S. postal Service, retiring in Flint in 2003. Robert married his beloved wife, Linda (Hoyt) Wyzynajtys, in a garden wedding at her son’s house in Owosso in 1991.
A devout Christian, Bob had known and loved Jesus since being saved in 1973. He was an active member of North Baptist Church in Flint, participating in numerous church activities, including ushering, cleaning and athletics.
Bob was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and spent many happy hours watching games and playing baseball on his PlayStation. He also enjoyed walking, cycling, gardening, model railroading and traveling. Those who knew Bob will fondly remember his appreciation for good meals, often declaring, "This is the best thing I ever ate!" He was also known for his quick wit, especially his love for puns, rhymes, and wordplay.
Bob is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda; Linda's children, Todd (Desiree) Wyzynajtys, of Durand and Tami (Brian) Johnson of Grand Blanc; grandsons, David Wyzynajtys, Cody (Stacey) Johnson and Tyler Johnson; sister-in-law, Marla Atwell; three nieces and one nephew; and four great nieces and two great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Marion Christensen; brother-in-law, David Hoyt; and brother-and-sister-in-law, Clyde & Kathy Howd.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial gifts be made to Carriage Town Ministries, in honor of Robert Christensen's legacy of kindness and generosity.
