Bob Chimovitz passed away peacefully at home Tuesday morning. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, Rotarian and friend. Growing up in Flint, Bob loved learning. As an Eagle Scout, Bob excelled at knot tying which grew into a passion for boating. Bob loved to show the different knots he would use and explain why he used them. While serving as a U.S. Marine, Bob learned discipline and found an aptitude for law. Enrolling in law classes while in the Marines allowed Bob to find a career he loved where he could help others. While building a legal practice for 50 years in Genesee County, Bob championed for a mentor program for new lawyers to help them grow as ethical attorneys. When lawyers and judges would reach out to ask for help, Bob would drop what he was doing to assist them. As an active member of the Genesee County Bar Association, Bob became a multiple award winner for service to other attorneys. Once he retired, Bob looked for more ways to help out and found the Fenton Rotary. This provided Bob a way to help others whether he was building wheelchair ramps or assisting veterans, he knew he was making a difference. While practicing law, Bob did not outwardly appreciate the lawyer jokes that his sons would regale him with. We are pretty sure he giggled to himself later though. Bob loved to build. He built a business, a family, multiple boat docks and multiple tables. He always employed his grandchildren to help out with each project. They expressly enjoyed carrying tools and holding the flashlight. Bob is survived by his loving wife, MaryRita, his sons David (Ana) and Jared (Amy), his stepdaughters Jen (Tom) and Julia (Greg), brothers Jeff (Debby) and Larry (Sharon) and all eight of his grandkids Madeline, Harrison, Meredith, Yael, Shayna, Naomi, Holden and Dakotah along with a plethora of cousins.
