Robert Brown, Jr.

September 16, 1923 — August 24, 2021

BROWN, Robert H (Bob), Jr. - age 97, of Queen Creek, AZ, formerly of Swartz Creek, MI passed away peacefully August 24, 2021.  Bob is forever in the arms of his loving father (2Cor 5:8).  Bob carried the same falling apart bible in his pocket every day since receiving it as a going to war gift from his home church in 1943.  The bible and Bob crossed the Atlantic 12 times, the Pacific 8 times, always faithfully in his breast pocket.  Bob always joked that the bible stopped a German bullet from piecing his heart!  By God’s grace Bob was independent, driving daily and sharp as a tack up to the moment of his passing.  If Bob was here right now, he would tell you God is real, faith is surmount and how you live your faith is all that matters (Heb 11:6).  Finally he would tell you that all of life is all for Jesus. Interment will be held at Marble Park Cemetery in Milan, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to:
Swartz Creek United Methodist Church 7400 Miller Road, Swartz Creek MI 48473. Bob was born September 16, 1923 in Whittaker, MI, the son of Robert H. and Grace (Wardle) Brown. He was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Washtenaw County. Bob was a combat medic of the U.S. Army and a veteran of World War II landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. Bob cared for the wounded sick and dying including caring for the victims at the liberation of Buchenwald concentration camp. Bob later received a Bachelor degree from Michigan State Normal College and a Master's degree from Michigan State University. Robert married Lois Jane Bush on August 5, 1955 in Swartz Creek Mi. Robert was a much loved teacher, coach, counselor, principal and retired as the Superintendent of Swartz Creek Public Schools in 1983 after 37 years. He was a member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, past president of the United Way, past chairman of the Board for Swartz Creek Senior Center, and a member of the Flint Rotary Club, American Legion in Milan and Swartz Creek VFW. Surviving are: wife, Lois Brown; daughter, Bethany (Marvin) Jackson; son, Robert (Tina) H  Brown III; grandchildren, Holly (Joe) Boyd, Elizabeth, Tatum and Robert H Dylan IV Brown; great-grandchildren Elisha, Judah and Eben Boyd. He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
