BROOKS, Robert Lynn "Red"- Age 86, of Swartz Creek, passed away, April 24, 2022. Funeral services will be held 1PM Friday, April 29, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel 8138 Miller Road Swartz Creek. Visitation will be 12PM until the time of service Friday. Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Interment at Crestwood Cemetery. A Funeral Luncheon will follow at The Durand F.O.E.. Memorial Contributions in Red's memory would be appreciated to The Old News Boys of Flint or Tenth Life Cat Rescue.
Red was born May 29, 1935 in Sunflower, MS, the son of Rufus and Eula (McGraw) Brooks. He married Joan Betty Thibaut in Flint, December 18, 1954. Red was employed as an Inspector with GM for 38 years. He was a member of the Durand F.O.E .for almost 50 years and volunteered at the Swartz Creek VFW and was affiliated with, and did other volunteer work with several other organizations and even dressed up and played Santa in his younger years. Red served for 16 years on the Swartz Creek Fire Department. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Red loved animals, especially cats and feeding birds.
Red is survived by: his wife, Joan; children, Robert J. Brooks, Debra L. Brooks, and Cynthia (Leon Jones) Brooks-Jones; grandchildren, Kristina "Krissi" Mason, and April M. Ricker; great grandchildren, Christian Eric Alcorn II, Ava M. Alcorn, Madilynn G. Alcorn, Tyler M. Conley, and Jacob A. Mason; siblings, Patricia "Patsy" Faust, and Tommy Lee Brooks' several nieces, nephews and friends.
