BOCK, Robert L. - Age 81, of Flint, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at hisresidence. Services will be held 11 AM Friday, March 7, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd.,Swartz Creek with Pastor David Daniel officiating.Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Wednesday and 1-4 and 6-8PM Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Shiawassee County Humane Society. Mr. Bock was born September 28, 1926 in Flint, the son of Louis and Clara (Popp) Bock. He was a 1945 graduate of Flint Northern High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Robert married Shirley I. Faulds on March 10, 1951 in Flint and she preceded him in death on June 21, 2006. Mr. Bock retired from the City of Flint Parks and Recreation where he was a bowling instructor for youth. He loved working with children and was recognized for his efforts by the Optimist Club, Boys Club of America and the Mayor of the City of Flint. He was presented the Key to the City by the Mayor and September 12, 1986 was declared Bob Bock day in the City of Flint. Bob was an active member of United in Christ Lutheran Church. Surviving are: four children, Dennis and wife, Carrie of Flint, Steve of Flint, Carol and husband, Kevin Buckler of Bancroft, Gerald of Flint; four grandchildren, Emily, Josh, Chase and Brandy; great-granddaughter, Callie; sister, Alice and husband, Paul Fischaber of AZ; brother, Lester and wife, Helen of Flint; many nieces and nephews and his beloved breakfast club friends.
