d. February 16, 2025

Flushing

Robert "Bob" White, age 93, of Flushing, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 5pm-7pm at Sharp Funeral Homes - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek, Michigan. Visitation will resume the following day on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12pm at North Flushing Baptist Church, 7500 W. Mt. Morris Road in Flushing, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Flushing Baptist Church in memory of Bob. Those wishing to write condolences may do so by visiting his obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.

Bob was born to Henry and Reva White in Flint, MI as the fourth of seven children. He grew up in the Flint area and graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 1950. In his youth, Bob pushed a Good Humor cart, selling Eskimo pies. In Swartz Creek, he worked on a farm while participating in multiple sports and serving as Class President. After graduation, Bob served in the US Navy from 1951 until 1953 on an aircraft carrier. In April of 1953, he married his sweetheart, Donna Hartfelder. Bob and Donna spent their first year of marriage in California where he served. When they returned home, Bob completed his apprenticeship in tool making from GMI (General Motors Institute). Bob worked as a Toolmaker at Buick for 43 years. For most of their 71 years of marriage, Bob and Donna resided in Flushing, MI where they raised six children. Bob coached many Little League teams over the years and even was instrumental in getting girls sports into Flushing High School for his daughters. Always the innovator, Bob even constructed a regulation size backstop for his kids and their friends to play softball in the side yard.

Bob enjoyed gardening and yard work and was so proud of his orange Allis Chalmers tractor which he used to mow and pull a wagon full of grandkids. He also enjoyed music, playing guitar, harmonica, mandolin and violin. If you were around Bob much, you probably were serenaded with, “How Much Is That Doggy in the Window?”. Perhaps his most significant hobby though, was teaching and studying the Bible. Bob taught Sunday School to many kids through the years and enjoyed participating in Bible Study Fellowship.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Donna; brother, Lawrence; 6 children, Linda, Nancy (Steve), Mary, Robb (Denise), Deana (Kevin) and Rich (Sue). Bob is further survived by 21 grandkids and their spouses and 36 great-grandkids. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Reva White; brothers, Don, Doug, Bill and Dick; his sister, Wanda and son-in-law, Michael Wheeler.
