ANNIS, Robert E. -- Age 89, of Linden, died Monday, April 7, 2008 in Ft. Myers, FL. Â Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, April 11, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden, Rev. Donald Neuville officiating. Â Burial immediately following at Fairview Cemetery, with military honors under the auspices of Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post 3243. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5-9 PM Thursday. Â Those desiring may make contributions to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Â Mr. Annis was born July 5, 1918 in Flint, the son of Louis Edgar and Eva (Wright) Annis. Â He was a 1936 graduate of Linden High School and had attended U of M Ann Arbor. Â He also was one of the first inductee's to the Linden High School Sports Hall Of Fame for his baseball pitching, He was inducted January 5, 1989. Â Mr. Annis had resided in Linden since 1929. Â He married Fern Evelyn Shattuck November 15, 1952 in Angola, IN and she preceded him in death March 17, 1999. Â He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army, and had earned the Bronze Star. Â He retired from GM Chevrolet Metal Fab in 1974 after 28 years of service. Â He was a member and was instrumental in starting the Linden V.F.W. Price-Crane-Robinson Post #4642. He was and avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Â Surviving are: 4 children, Kimberly Annis and husband William Warren of Ft. Myers, FL, Gary and wife Nancy Hall of Linden, Don and wife Anna Louise Hall of Leakey, TX, Kent and wife Cheryl Hall of Lansing; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
