WALKER, Rita Louise -- Age 74, of Flint, died March 4, 2009 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, March 7, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, Fr. Tim MacDonald celebrant. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery at 9:30 AM Monday, March 9. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, 12-3 and 5-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Those desiring may make contributions to Avalon Hospice. Rita was born February 27, 1935 in Flint the daughter of Charles and Mary Louise (Couchman) Durnan. She was a 1953 graduate of Flint Central High School. She married James M. Walker on June 15, 1956 in Flint. She had worked for Bell Telephone in her early years. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Rita is survived by: husband James; four children, John (Jo Anne) of Courtland, OH, James (Cheryl) of Grand Blanc, Dawn (James) Swain of Davison, Michael (Diana) of Davison; ten grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Charles (Ellen) Durnan of Swartz Creek; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, MaryAnn Carlson, Christopher Durnan, Charlotte Crampton, Myrtle Bednarski.
