Richard Charles Willey, Age 78, of Grand Blanc and Byron Center, Michigan passed away on October 27, 2017. A private service will be held at a later date. Richard "Dick" Willey was born December 9, 1938 in Flint, the son of Percy George "PG" Willey and Marion (McGinty) Willey. Dick graduated from the Leelanau Academy for Boys, received his bachelor's degree from Albion College, as well as his master's degree from Northwestern University. Dick married Diane (Steurzl) Willey on June 23, 1962 in Flint; she preceded him in death March 24, 2015. Throughout his career Dick worked in high school administration for the Flint Public Schools. Dick and Diane enjoyed camping with their travel trailer and spending time with their grandchildren. Dick is survived by his sons, Darren (Kristin) of Byron Center, MI; Kevin (Kim) of Lewisburg, PA; and grandchildren: Rebecca, Jessica, and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Hough; and brothers, James Willey and Thomas Willey. The family wishes to thank Spectrum Health Hospice at Home for their care of dad and especially his nurse, Wade, who befriended dad and provided guidance for our family. In addition, thank you to the entire staff at Railside Assisted Living in Byron Center who treated dad with respect and provided excellent care to him.
