Richard George 'Dick' WALTERS

WALTERS, Richard George "Dick" - Age 80, Gaines, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 in North Port, FL. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 30, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with Pastor John Bailey officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Duffield United Methodist Church. Mr. Walters was born February 12, 1930 in Durand, the son of Charles and Lillian (Gooding) Walters. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He married Dorothy June Singleton January 16, 1954 in Durand. Mr. Walters retired in 1987 from GM Grand Blanc Tank Plant after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Harbor Cove Boat Club and was a DVA volunteer for many years. Surviving are: wife, Dorothy; 2 daughters, Terry and husband Timothy Wheeler of Lennon and Sandra and husband Donald Niles of Vernon; 6 grandchildren, Jillian Niles, Christina Niles, Tyler Wheeler, Karry Wheeler, Tim Wheeler and Marty Wheeler; 3 great grandchildren, Timmy, Karrylin and Cruz Wheeler; brother, Charles "Jack" and wife Laura " Dawn" Walters of Vernon; several nieces and nephews.
