Richard Velat

VELAT, Richard "Rick" A.- Age 57, of Flushing, died Friday, February 9, 2018. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held from 12PM- 4PM Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Maple Grove Hall. New Lothrop, MI. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Rick was born on January 6, 1961 in Flint, the son of Richard A. Velat, Mary (Wilhite) Velat and Roberta (Velat) Moersch. He was employed at Genesee County Water and Waste. Rick was family orientated, his grand daughters were the light of his life. He enjoyed antique tractors, fishing, hunting, mud bogging, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, ATVs and camping. Surviving are: his wife Cathy (Ramsey) Velat; son, Cody (Jasmine) Velat; granddaughters, Lily Stoddard and Lila Velat; brother, Russell (Pam) Velat; sisters, Rebecca (Steve) Gwinn and Ruth (Rob) Culhane. He is also survived by his step mother, Mary (Wilhite) Velat; step siblings, Larry (Donna) Wilhite, Cathy (Phillip) Vargo, Sandy (Chuck) Emmendorfer, Mark Wilhite, Susan Tomalia; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many other loving family members. He was also preceded in death by his grand parents, James (Ruth) Velat; father, Richard A. Velat; mother, Roberta (Velat) Moersch; brother, Randal Velat and step brother, Steve Wilhite.
