Richard Smith, Sr.

SMITH, Richard Duane, Sr. "Dick" - Age 77, of Linden, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project. Dick was born January 22, 1938 in Flint the son of Cleo and Evelyn (Tolbert) Smith. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Vliet November 18, 1961. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had resided in the Linden area most of his life. Dick retired from GMSPO in 2000 after 37 years of service. He was a life member of Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post #3243 and a member of the Linden American Legion #119. Surviving are: his wife, Elizabeth "Betty"; children, Christine McGuire, Richard D. Smith, Jr. and Brian and wife Tonya Smith all of Gaines; 8 grandchildren, Jamie, Rachel, Kenny, Andrew, Ashley, Alicia, Tyler, and Alida; 5 great grandchildren, Allison, Chyenne, Zoey, Graeson, and Conner.
