ROBERTS, Richard Dean - Age 59, of Fenton, lost his hard fought battle with cancer on September 13, 2015. Funeral services will be held 1PM Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Brother-in-law Scott Strader officiating. Burial in Tyrone Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home 4PM - 8PM Tuesday and 11 AM until time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Richard was born September 13, 1956 in Flint, the son of Ellis W. and Laura Frances (Webster) Roberts. He retired in 2002 from GMSPO in Swartz Creek. He had resided in the Fenton area for the past 7 years, originally from Swartz Creek. Richard was full of laughter and love, family meant everything to him. His grand daughters always brought a smile to his face and meant the world to him. Surviving are: his husband and companion of over 20 years, Rodney Perkins; daughters, Courtney and husband Chris Remillard of Linden and Sarah and husband Scott Starkel of Swartz Creek; granddaughters, Katelyn, Emmalyn, and Sophie; mother, Laura "Fran" Roberts of Byron; siblings, Laurence Roberts and husband Scott Strader of St. Petersburg, FL, Keith Roberts of Clio, twin brother, Ralph Roberts of Grand Blanc, and Laurie and husband Craig Woolpert of Byron; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Roberts. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Frederick VanDuyne for his compassion and friendship over the years, it meant a lot to Richard.
